This is the seventh cuddle and kind doll I have given as a gift. Each one is is beautifully designed. I sent Eloise to a new born and her big 3year old sister. The feed back I received made happy they loved them
Elephants in the wild are such intriguing and sweet animals, sharing so many emotions with humans: devotion to their babies, empathy for others, cooperative behavior. They also have that wonderful trunk! In our family the elephant doll looms large, but usually, unless you want a regular plush one, they must be handmade which requires a skill level beyond this grandmother’s reach! Well, no longer!! Cuddle and Kind has created an absolutely beautiful, huggable doll that is sturdy and playable. And already a part of our ongoing storytelling tradition. But this isn’t even the best part! The best part of this doll’s story is the business model that lies behind her creation. This company knows that American parents and grandparents will spend good money on beautiful toys—and these toys are gorgeous—but they also know that extremely brilliant artisanship is required to make those beautiful toys. And they know that the dignity inherent in this creation demands fair compensation and reward for the artisans involved. And here comes the sweetest part: they know that so many children need something much more essential than 5 gorgeous dolls! Millions of children need food—clean, healthy, nutritious food. They know that we want to help these children too, but it’s hard for us to know which charity to trust. Enter Cuddle and Kind’s magic woven circle. Gifted artisans make beautiful dolls for our kids; we choose our favorites, and pay an extremely fair price which covers the cost of labor. But the company doesn’t just pocket the profits, they forward them to trusted agencies that feed kids everywhere. This is the story we can tell our little children as they grow up with an Eloise or Evan or Benedict or Penelope: that a wonderful artist made this doll, and another wonderful child, just like our own child, got to eat a real meal because of that circle of love. I worked in West Africa for a number of years, trying to support women’s and children’s health initiatives. And this three part business model just wows me. It makes me cry as I write this. How do we even begin to explain the inequities in this world without making lucky kids feel guilty and unlucky kids feel ashamed while still making hard-working artisans feel essential? Cuddle and Kind has one answer: We create such a circle as this. Thank you all from the bottom of my heart.
I have now ordered 3 dolls from this company- they have become my first go to for baby gift shopping. The product is excellent ( and so cute), the service has also been excellent, but the mission statement is what keeps me coming back. There has never been a better time to contribute, even in the smallest of ways, to making this world a kinder, more peaceful place.
How does my purchase make an impact?
By providing nutrition meals at a key early stage in life, you are helping children grow, fight disease, develop cognitively and reach their full potential.
By providing school meals, you are giving children the energy they need to learn as well as an incentive to send them to school. This provides an education opportunity to children, especially girls, who might not otherwise have one.
We are proud to provide our artisans in Peru with sustainable, fair trade wages. By supporting cuddle+kind, you are supporting the values of fairness and decency with the products you buy.
